The Showground
WR13 6NW

The event HQ will open at 7am for pre-event registration, where you will need to sign on and collect your bike number, timing chip, route card and emergency contact details. There are toilets and changing rooms available (please DO NOT leave belongings in the changing rooms), along with event partner Performance Cycles on hand should you need any last minute spares.

Start time - 50km, 100km & 160km routes:
The ride itself will start at 8am, leaving in groups of approx. 50 riders - with a two minute interval between each group. Riders for the 50km, 100km and 160km routes can set off together, and will be in no particular order. All riders for all routes MUST be on the road by 9am.

The dreaded "broom wagon"!
After the start closes at 9am, the broom wagon will set off along the route - travelling at an average speed of 12mph. This will become the cut off time for the event (obviously strong weather conditions will mean this might be adjusted on the day!!), any riders that are passed by the broom wagon will be offered a lift. If they decide to carry on then they must be aware that the feed stations will be closed before they get there - they will also be asked to hand back their timing chip. If you are concerned about your ability to make it round the course ahead of the broom wagon we strongly suggest that you arrive early and set off with the first wave at 8am – which will give you an hours head-start on the broom wagon!!

Safety Information:
The Three Counties Sportive is a fully supported event in the tradition of the best European cyclosportive's and Gran Fondo's.

This means that the route will be clearly and comprehensively marked, with direction arrows at each turning and road junction. We will make sure that you are in no doubt as to where you should be heading, so if there is a long time between turnings, we'll put up some straight-on signs to give you some reassurance that you haven't missed a turn. However, in the unlikely event that you take a wrong turn at any point or that signs have been dislodged / removed, we will give each rider an emergency route sheet as a fall-back, which will also include emergency contact information.

There will be well-stocked feed stations out on the route (one for the short and medium routes, two for the long route), which will have a variety of food, such as fruit, cakes, and sandwiches, as well as basic 1st aid kits and spares/tools.

There will be a mobile bike shop from Performance Cycles at the event centre, where a mechanic will be on hand to help you out if you have any concerns about your bike before you set out. However, please note that you should not leave it till the morning of the event to sort out any problems with your bike - as this may result in a delay to you starting, or you missing the event completely!! They will also have spares and accessories, clothing and sports nutrition for sale.

We are pleased to be able to confirm that top cycling photographer Phil O’Connor will be the official photographer at the Three Counties Sportive, and will be out on the course photographing every rider. To help identify you, riders will be given a laminated bike number (to be fixed to handlebars) as part of their signing on pack on the morning of the event. The event will be covered by motorcycle outriders from the National Escort Group and Medibikes - all riders must remember that they are riding on the public highway and MUST comply with the highway code and the laws of the road.

If you have any further queries about the event, please contact the event organisers via the contact page.
